Important Tips When You Bring Home Your New Dog House
Place your dog’s house far enough away from fences to prevent escape
During summer, make sure you place the dog house in a shaded area
During winter, position the door away from the wind
In extreme cold, bring your dog inside to prevent hypothermia
Clean any bedding regularly to provide a comfortable environment and to prevent fleas
Wood dog houses are cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter
Raise the house off the ground for better temperature control, drainage and protection against fleas and other pests
Remember, if your Dog or Puppy is not used to a Dog House, get them acquainted with it slowly. Place their favorite toy and/or bed inside. Also, you can put their favorite treat inside, so they will feel that their new home is a fun place to be.
Another Tip: you may want to wait to install the Flap Door, if you purchased one. Our Pup was afraid of it at first, but was fine within a few days.
It may take a few days for them to enjoy it, but the time it takes will be well worth the rewards that you and your Pet will get from your new Dog House.
